Daniel Scrivner is a designer, writer, and entrepreneur out of Victorville, CA. He's the creative director of Scrivner Creative. And this website is his account of the European Adventurer tour he took with Contiki Travel in the summer of 2006.
Danny has always loved new and challenging projects. And this website came about in much that same spirit. Not content to just take a trip and experience it for himself, he began brainstorming and designing a way to share his experience with others. He'd seen several travelogs and photo galleries online, but none of them seemed to convey the whole experience. And all of them seemed to be lacking in the design department.
And so, My European Adventure was born to fill that need. The idea was to showcase the entire experience from preparing and packing, to coming back to the United States after 40-days abroad and wrapping it up. And the idea was to convey this experience in as many ways as possible - from articles and journal entries, to photos and videos. That idea led to what you see today.
Danny loves what he calls "detail oriented design", which basically just means design that's not sloppy - in his opinion. "You see so many 'designers' on the web today that just do the bare minimum to style their websites. They basically just choose a font for the site, and a general color scheme which is very loosely adhered to. And after seeing so much of that my eye's just start to hurt."
Danny says that, "... as a website designer it's your job to create an experience, and an overall style that honors the content and heightens the users experience. And this can only be done by working your butt off and leaving no detail untouched. You've really got to think absolutely everything through."
He went on to add that, "After a while though, you get used to working your butt off and you really get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It's really all worth it in the end!" Danny, for now, will continue doing his absolute best to bring unique ideas and designs to the web. "I really like what I do! And you're going to see a whole lot more coming out of my studio very soon."
